The ULISS’s Odyssey.

The objective of the ULISS project, funded by the FEDER, the Région de Franche-Comté and OSEO, is to propose to some potential users to test directly in their applications an ultra-stable cryocooled sapphire oscillator that has been designed to be transportable.

What does ULISS offer? - High stability signals at 10 GHz, 100 MHz and 5 MHz: Allan Deviation better than 3x10-15 for 1 s< t <10,000 s and better than 1x10-14 over one day. - Possibility to be lock on a external 100 MHz signal - Frequency adjustment with a relative frequency resolution of 1x10-16. - See other specifications in the Data Sheet page.

In February 2015, a measurement campaign (2 months) was lead at SYRTE laboratory (SYstèmes de Référence Temps Espace, Observatoire de Paris, Paris, France).

Trip to European Frequency and Time Forum (EFTF) 2014 in Neuchâtel (Switzerland)

Uliss team went to EFTF Symposium which took place to Neuchâtel (Switzerland) in June.

Back to Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES) Toulouse

In March 2014, a new measurement campaign (2 months) was lead at CNES, Toulouse (France) to check the flight model of the frequency synthesis of the PHARAO clock.

Trip to VLBI observatory in Wettzell (Germany)

Uliss team came to the VLBI obervatory of Wettzell (Germany) to check the Large Laser Gyroscope system.

Trip to 2013 joint UFFC/, EFTF and PFM Symposium in Prague (Czech Republic)

Uliss team exhibited the CSO at the 2013 joint UFFC, EFTF and PFM Symposium which took place to Prague (Czech Republic) in July.

Trip to SYRTE laboratory Paris

Uliss team came to  SYRTE laboratory (belong to Paris Observatory) Paris (France) for a one-month measurement campaign. Another campaign is planned by the end of the year.

Trip to UTINAM institute Besançon

Uliss team came to UTINAM (Universe, Transport, Interfaces, Nanostructures, Atmosphere and environment, Molecules) institute Besançon (France) to help to characterize a composite clock (Quartz - H Maser - Cesium). Details on the test campaign will be reported in future publication.

Uliss team exhibited the CSO at the European Frequency and Time Forum 2012 which took place to Göteborg (Sweden) in april.

Trip to Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES) Toulouse

Uliss team came to Toulouse (France) to qualify the flying model of the PHARAO ultra low-noise microwave frequency synthesis chain. The PHARAO project aims at operating a cold-atoms cesium clock in microgravity in the International Space Station (ISS). Details on the test campaign is reported in the paper published in the journal Review of Scientific Instruments.

Trip to Laboratoire Temps Fréquence (LTF) Neuchâtel

Uliss team came to Neuchâtel (Switzerland) to characterize two ultra-stable laser developped at LTF. The collaboration has suceed in the presentation at the conference Europhoton 2012. We also took the oportunity to test the state-of-the-art quartz oscillator from Oscilloquartz. Results of these campaigns are presented in a paper published in the journal Review of Scientific Instruments (RSI).
